A little about me. I've been married to Andy since Feb 1999.  We have raised four children and although we are both NZ born we have now lived in Australia since 1999. We are both prison officers in WA.
I had a gastric band in 2007 when I weighed somewhere around 130kg. This was great for the first year or so but slowly the weight found me again and the scales crept up and up. I had the band removed in 2012. In September of 2012 I had a gastric sleeve. I weighed about 120kg. Today I weigh approx 92kg this depends on the time of day and when I last went to the loo. All very important things when you live by the scales as I do.
Now, why vegetarian? As I have said already I really don't know for sure but I am intrigued by people who can live meat free. I recently watched some of the last shows of River cottage vegetarian. I was surprised by how well Hugh looked. A couple I know have been following the Hallelujah diet which is based on biblical principals (I think) and is basically vegan. Lucy (my friend) has had a total healing of the arthritis she has suffered in her hands for years. I find this all very fascinating and have decided that although I don't have any outward health problems like Lucy I'm keen to see if being a vegetarian makes me feel healthier and look healthier.
I think my biggest fear is not being able to lose weight. I don't know any slim vegetarians. Well thats not true. I do know one girl who is in her mid 20's and is slim. I also know her mum, grandmother and sister and they are all super slender so I think thats more a genetic reality than a vegetarian one. Soon find out Im thinking.
